Kratom dosing according to the instructions for use: 3 g, 10 g per day and a three-day break

The only dosing a seller may state is the instructions for use on the packaging. What they mean, why to weigh instead of estimating by spoon, how to count the daily limit across several products and what to do if it is exceeded.

In brief

A kratom seller may not recommend "how much to take". It may - and must - state the instructions for use, whose content is prescribed by Decree No. 448/2025 Coll. For powder they say: a single serving of 3 g, at most 10 g per day and a 3-day break between individual uses. This article explains what these values mean in practice, why weighing and the batch matter and what to do when the limit is exceeded. It is not medical advice; if you are unsure whether the product is suitable for you, consult a doctor.

What the instructions for use say

The instructions are part of the mandatory information on the pack and you will find them with every product of ours in the Instructions section. They consist of four steps: measure 3 g of powder, stir it into 100-250 ml of lukewarm water, drink, store dry and out of reach of persons under 18. Two limits go with them that are often overlooked:

  • a maximum daily amount of 10 g - for the total amount of kratom per day, regardless of colour, strain or number of packs;
  • the product should not be used every day - there should be a 3-day break between individual uses.

The mandatory consumer information adds why: when the dosage is exceeded, the effect profile changes to sedative, and long-term use of high doses may lead to dependence. The full wording is in Kratom effects: what we may say.

Why grams, not spoons

The volume of powder is not a reliable measure of weight. It depends on the fineness of the grind (granulometry), moisture and how full the spoon is. Rough values from practice:

  • a level teaspoon of finely ground powder: about 2-2.5 g,
  • a heaped teaspoon: 3.5-5 g,
  • nano powder (particles below 50 μm) is lighter by volume - the same spoon holds fewer grams.

The difference between a level and a heaped teaspoon is therefore up to twofold. That is why the instructions work with grams and why we recommend a kitchen scale with 0.1 g resolution. The scoops we include are for scooping, not for dosing.

Why the batch matters

Three grams of powder do not always contain the same amount of alkaloids. The mitragynine content between batches in our reports ranges roughly from 1.3 to 1.6 %, higher for some strains. In three grams that is a difference of tens of milligrams of mitragynine. That is why:

  • every batch has its own certificate of analysis (COA),
  • we list the values with every product and in the lab tests overview,
  • when switching to a new batch or another strain there is no point in "increasing", because measuring precisely according to the instructions is the only thing supported by the regulation.

Extract is not powder

Extract has an order of magnitude higher mitragynine concentration (roughly ten times that of powder in our current batch) and its own instructions for use expressed in drops, not grams. Grams of powder and drops of extract cannot be converted into each other and are not added up "by feel" on the same day - the instructions of the specific product apply, together with the general principle that it is the same substance. See Kratom extract vs. powder for the technological differences.

Several products on one day

The green, white and red varieties of one strain - or two different strains - are still kratom. The daily limit of 10 g is a limit for the total, not for each pack separately. Likewise, the three-day break applies to kratom as such, not to individual products.

Why a three-day break

The mandatory information states that long-term use of high doses may lead to dependence. The literature describes, with regular daily use, an increase in tolerance (the same amount stops having the same manifestation) and withdrawal symptoms on cessation. A break between uses is the simplest way to counter this development, which is why it is directly part of the instructions. More in Kratom risks and safety.

Exceeding the dose: symptoms and what to do

At higher doses the literature describes nausea and vomiting, strong drowsiness, dizziness, sweating, a rapid pulse; in combination with alcohol, opioids or sedative medicines, respiratory depression. Unconsciousness, breathing problems or seizures are life-threatening.

When calling, state what and how much was taken, when, and whether other substances or medicines were also taken. Keep the pack with the batch number at hand - the COA figures help the doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use kratom every day?

The instructions for use say the product should not be used every day and that there should be a 3-day break between uses. Daily use is associated in the literature with tolerance and dependence.

How much is 3 g in spoons?

About one slightly heaped teaspoon of finely ground powder - but the spread is large and depends on the grind. The only reliable method is a scale.

Does the same dosing apply to extract?

No. Extract has its own instructions in drops and an order of magnitude higher concentration. Follow only the instructions of the specific product.

What if I exceeded 10 g?

Do not add any other substances, do not drink alcohol, do not drive. With nausea and drowsiness stay calm with someone else present; with impaired consciousness, breathing or seizures call 155. Contact the Toxicological Information Centre with questions.

Does dosing differ by colour or strain?

The instructions are the same for all powder products. The difference between batches is the alkaloid content, which you will find in the COA - it is a reason to weigh precisely, not a reason to change the instructions.
