About Thai kratom
Thai kratom is a strain named after its place of origin - southern Thailand. Designations like Maeng Da speak of leaf selection; "Thai" speaks of a region, just as Sumatra does. Southern Thailand is the historical home of kratom: for generations the tree was part of local life there.
In our range it is a single product - Green Thai, a finely ground powder from southern Thailand. We carry it as the green variety (what the green colour means as a processing stage is covered on the green kratom page); it is a single-strain batch with its own report from VŠCHT Prague, whose values are in the table and with the product.

WHAT THE STRAIN IS NAMED AFTER
Region, selection, leaf size, grind: how the names differ
What the strain is named after, which colour and form we carry and what the report shows.
In our range the strains differ mainly in what they are named after. Thai kratom and Sumatra carry the name of a region; Maeng Da is a leaf-selection designation grown today mainly on Borneo; Elephant is named after its leaf size and Rurut after its nano grind. We carry this strain in one colour and one batch, which is why its row in the table below is the simplest - it shows clearly that alkaloid content is decided by the COA value, not the name.
| Strain | Origin | Vein colours | Forms | Mitragynine (COA) | Grind | In stock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maeng Da | Borneo, Indonesia | Red Green White | Powder, Extract | 1,38 - 1,55 % extract 12 % | finely ground, water extract | 4 products |
| Sumatra | Sumatra, Indonesia | Green | Powder | 1,32 % | finely ground | 1 product |
| Thai you are here | Southern Thailand | Green | Powder | 1,28 % | finely ground | 1 product |
| Elephant | Borneo, Indonesia | White | Powder | 1,49 % | finely ground | 1 product |
| Borneo | Borneo (Kalimantan), Indonesia | - | - | - | - | Coming soon |
| Rurut | Borneo, Indonesia | Green | Nano | 1,46 % | nano (≤ 50 μm) | 1 product |
Mitragynin values are ranges from the COA of current batches (VŠCHT Praha) and change with every batch. You'll find exact values with each product.
THE PLANT, THE REGION AND THE COMPOSITION
Thai kratom: the plant, the region and its story
What the plant is
Mitragyna speciosa is an evergreen tropical tree of the coffee family (Rubiaceae), a botanical relative of coffee; in the wild it grows up to 25 m in the humid tropical forests of Southeast Asia (where kratom grows). Kratom under any name is the leaf of this one species; "Thai" only says which part of its range the leaf came from.
Thailand: from tradition to a ban and back
Southern Thailand is among the areas with the longest-documented use of kratom; for generations the tree was an ordinary part of rural life there. In 1943, however, Thailand banned kratom by law, and the ban lasted until 2021. Over those decades the centre of cultivation and export shifted to Indonesia, chiefly to Borneo and Sumatra (Indonesia as a supplier), while the "Thai" label stayed on as the name of a regional type. In 2021 Thailand removed kratom from its list of narcotics. The whole story is covered in Kratom in Thailand: a history.
Southern Thailand and its conditions
Southern Thailand lies in the tropical belt near the equator: a warm, humid monsoon climate is the natural habitat of Mitragyna speciosa, and it places the region among the traditional areas where kratom occurs. Our Green Thai comes from this area, and we carry it as a single-strain batch with its own report.
Green processing and the grind
We carry the Thai leaf as the green variety - a processing stage, not a separate plant; what "green" means and how it differs from white and red is covered on the green kratom page and in Kratom vein colours. The dried leaf is milled to a fine fraction around 80 mesh (about the grind); it is a finely ground powder without nano processing, and nano grinding is found in the Rurut strain.
Alkaloids and what the report measures
The kratom leaf holds more than forty alkaloids; the main one is mitragynine, alongside smaller amounts of 7-hydroxymitragynine, speciogynine and paynantheine. How much of them a given batch holds is set not by the region or the name but by the batch itself: the accredited VŠCHT Prague laboratory measures mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine by HPLC, plus purity, microbiology and heavy metals (how to read a COA). So for Thai kratom the number in the report is the number in the pouch, and the values are in the table below.
Instructions, packs and buying
The same instructions apply as for every powder of ours: 3 g per serving, at most 10 g per day, a 3-day break between uses, always weigh the dose (dosing according to the instructions). Packs of 25 g and 50 g in a resealable pouch. Like any kratom, this strain is a psychomodulatory substance: sold only with a Ministry of Health licence, to persons over 18, in packs up to 50 g. Our permit is on the Licence page, and you can buy it at our two shops in Prague or in the e-shop with delivery across the Czech Republic (delivery and payment). Safety information is with the product and in Kratom risks and safety.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What people ask most
Short answers; details are in the guide.
What does "Thai" kratom mean?
"Thai" is a name by region of origin - southern Thailand - not a description of "strength" or a special plant. It is the same Mitragyna speciosa leaf as the other strains; the region says where the leaf came from, not how it acts. We carry one green Thai batch with its own report.
How does Thai kratom differ from Sumatra?
Why do you carry only the green variety?
Because we carry one product and one colour. Leaf from Thailand also comes in white and red varieties - the same region, different processing (kratom vein colours). We offer the green one; any other colour would be a separate batch with its own report.
Is kratom still from Thailand?
Our Green Thai comes from southern Thailand. In general, though, "Thai" on the market long meant a regional type rather than a country: during the 1943-2021 ban much kratom was grown in Indonesia and the name stayed. So the origin and composition of each of our batches is backed by a report, not just by a name.
How is the powder dosed?
Per the instructions on the pack: 3 g per serving, at most 10 g per day, a 3-day break between uses, always weigh the dose (more on dosing).
How should the powder be stored?
In the closed pack, in a dry, dark place at room temperature, out of reach of persons under 18. Finely ground leaf readily absorbs moisture, so close the pouch after every use (storing kratom).
